The DLT Law requires businesses engaged in activities such as issuing digital tokens/virtual currencies, operating DLT exchanges, or providing custodian wallet services to obtain a specific license from the Albanian Financial Supervisory Authority (AMF). The law sets out the conditions for licensing, monitoring, and supervision of these entities.
As of January 1, 2025, gains from virtual assets or cryptocurrency transactions are subject to a 15% capital gains tax, aligning with the general capital gains tax framework.
